Retrofitting, in accordance with ANSI C-37.59, is the process of removing the existing overcurrent trip devices and replacing them with a modern, single solid state overcurrent device. This process gives the circuit breaker accuracy and consistency when called upon to trip. These devices also offer various options such as various trip curves, ground fault and communication capabilities.
